UFC Fight Night recap: Silva vs. Koscheck

At UFC Fight Night Maia vs LaFlare, Erick Silva came in as the heavy favorite over Josh Koscheck who took this fight just three weeks after losing to Jake Ellenberger at UFC 184.

In his first fight in Brazil, Koscheck moved forward with a hard right hand that backed Silva up against the cage where the grappling game began. Referee Mario Yamasaki did not see enough action and broke it up.

Both fighters then looked for a huge punch but Silva was the first to get it. A hard right hand knocked Koscheck to the ground, but after only a sort time there Koscheck was able to get back on his feet. Silva continued to push forward and was able to land hard punches that hurt the veteran. With Koscheck up against the cage and taking damage, he attempted a single that left his neck exposed and gave Silva the opportunity to wrap up a tight guillotine choke. At 4:21 of the first round, Koscheck had no option but to tap.
